Dennis Jenkins resided in the city of Peterborough with his wife Lee-Ann and children Claudia, Aubrey, and Kimberly. We have lived in the Peterborough area since 1998 and have chosen this to be a place to raise our children and succeed at our professions.

As a graduate of architecture with a technologist diploma, Dennis Jenkins has been able to join the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario as a qualifying body. Being a member of such an association has many benefits for not only the member, but for clients who want to know they have an approved designer working for them.

The objectives of the Association are to provide qualified Architectural Technologists the opportunity to advance their knowledge, skill, and proficiency in the field. As a member, we are required to operate our business at a high standard of quality and competence, to establish, maintain, and enforce strict rules of ethical conduct, and to inform our clients in a suitable manner the purpose and aims of the Association.

Become Involved with the Community
Northern Designs and Dennis Jenkins has become a great supporter with community involvement over the past few years. As of November 2005 Dennis joined the Big Brothers & Big Sisters Association of Peterborough in support of helping a young child that was in need of a male role model. As a volunteer I got to experience the sense of achievement and enjoyment of a young child. Unfortunately due to my own families needs this past year, I was unable to continue my role as a Big Brother. As an individual I still remain active as a volunteer with the organization.

In 2006 I became a member of the Kawartha Lakes Chamber of Commerce in Lakefield. During the past few years I have given great dedication acting as co-chair and chair of the Planning and Events committee for organizing networking functions.

Our main networking and fundraising function over the years has been the annual golf tournament. The tournament has allowed us to team up with great organizations such as The Canadian Cancer Society in Peterborough along with the prostate cancer support group to help raise awareness for prostate cancer. Our 2009 tournament allowed us the opportunity to work directly with the Lakefield Primary Healthcare Campaign to help make the dream of family doctors a reality. 2008 brought along an opportunity that allowed Dennis Jenkins to give back to the community not only as an individual but also as a business owner. Habitat for Humanity Peterborough and District allowed Dennis the opportunity to not only design, but to be on the board of directors co-chairing the build committee. The challenges and experience in being a part of an organization of this nature gave great rewards that will last a lifetime. The Habitat group along with many other talented volunteers orchestrated a team of trades, neighbors, and friends to exceed all expectations and construct what is to date the Habitat model for future builds within the Peterborough affiliate. The 2008 Lundys Lane build in Peterborough was completed in 10 weeks and constructed to above Ontario Building Code standards with an Energy Star certification.
